Audi has just presented at the Shanghai Motor Show, the new Audi Q3, and the brand’s first compact SUV. The interior of the new Audi model is very spacious, its ergonomics and finish are exemplary.

As with the outdoors, customers have many opportunities to express their own style indoors: Audi offers a wide selection of materials and colours. The luggage compartment offers 460 to 1,365 litres – ideal for sports and leisure. This compact SUV will be equipped with three four-cylinder engines: one TDI and two TFSI.

All three will be combined with direct injection with turbocharging, and will feature not only an energy recovery system, but also a start-stop system. With powers ranging from 103 kW (140 hp) to 155 kW (211 hp), these engines will be as efficient as they are powerful. The basic version, the 2.0 TDI Q3, with 103 kW (140 hp) and front wheel drive – will have a fuel consumption of 5.2 l/100km .

Introducing the new Q3 Sportback!

One year after the launch of the second generation of its SUV star, the German manufacturer unveils its “compact crossover” version: the Audi Q3 Sportback. This is the brand’s very first SUV coupe, which differs mainly from the original model in that it features a receding roofline and a much more inclined tailgate. In terms of gauge, this results in a reduced height of 4 cm.

When combined with a black “honeycomb” grille, rear diffuser and 20-inch wheels, the Q3 Sportback offers a much more dynamic look. It thus competes with the BMW X2, X4 and Mercedes GLC Coupe. In the passenger compartment, on the other hand, there is almost no change. The dashboard is modelled on that of the Q3, which is far from being a defect with its high quality finish and 100% digital instrumentation.

Always practical and well motorized!

In the second row, then, the bench continues to slide (13 cm) and the habitability is not too much impacted at the level of the head. Nevertheless, there is a difference in trunk space with the seats folded down: it drops to 1400 litres (-125 litres). In normal configuration, however, it still has a nice capacity of 530 litres.

What about the engine in all this? A petrol block and two diesel blocks will be available at the exit: 2.0 TFSI 230 hp and 2.0 TDI 150/190 hp. However, a second lead-free block will be unlocked later, 1.5 TFSI 150 hp, with cylinder deactivation and a slight 48V hybridization. All this with a sports chassis (-10 mm), progressive steering and 4×4 all-wheel drive. Commercialization date: Fall 2019.
